average with all the sunshine. only 34 santa rosa. 38 in napa. low 40s with concord and liver more. most of the moisture out of the north bay and not picking up more snow there and leftover moisture in the south bay and wind for everyone this afternoon. right now gusting over 15 miles per hour to 24 miles per hour. around alit ma pass and along the coast and it's a breezy day today and temperatures are still relatively warm this morning compared to where they will be tonight and sunday night when a freeze warning goes up, so we still are going to look for some awfully cold temperatures in the mornings the next few mornings. san jose, nice and sunny for you. so breezy and chilly with the sunshine. temperatures today just in the 40s. maybe 50 if you're lucky. here's a look at the next several days. forecasting overnight lows just a little bit below freezinging in santa rosa. look at monday and tuesday. monday morning the coldest morning in the low 20s and then look at temperatures slowly recovering not until the middle of the next week. next couple of hours with coastal showers and sunshin

. your morning commute will run into some patchy fog. in santa rosa, a chance of brief showers. all of us are going to get this taste of this arctic express, which is blasting down the northern half of the country. we're looking at temperatures during the next couple of days, not so much tomorrow, but by tuesday and wednesday only in the low 50s. very similar to the temperatures we have outside right now. you couple that with the winds 10 to 15 miles per hour, we will have a wind chill factor in the bay area this week. speaking of freezing temperatures, we've had some patchy frost so far this fall, but not like this. temperatures in the valleys by thursday morning in the mid 20s. areas south of san jose will dip below freezing. what's unusual is that we'll be spending from midnight at freezing all the way until just before sunrise in the mid to upper 20s, so we're looking at a few hours staying below freezing. friday morning likely into saturday as well. look at that high temperature from napa. only 49 degrees on thursday. you'll see the change addressed over the next three days. low 50s

soon. overnight lows for tomorrow morning. 28 in santa rosa. 29 in fairfield. these numbers could dip even further out in the valley. upper 20s, low 30s. oakland 39 degrees. not 28, but 39 degrees in an urban area is a big deal. you have lots of issues when you get that kind of cold in the urban center. that's what we are going to see. temperatures will not just be cold at night but during the day as well. daytime highs in the low 50s and ier 40s into wednesday and thursday. that will be very noticeable. tomorrow, 49 in napa. that is a daytime high. daytime high in pleasanton. daytime high in livermore. temperatures, most of us will be in the upper 40s, low 50s. freeze warning tomorrow morning for the north bit. late tonight, early tomorrow morning. freeze warning wednesday night into thursday morning for the rest of the bay area excluding san francisco. what happens here, p we will talk about this more, but friday we have a chance for some showers. we see some significantly low snow levels with this. that's going to warm us up a little bit. we'll look forward for the chance of rain.

you the overnight lows tonight. we'll get down to 22 degrees in santa rosa tonight. 27 san jose and down to 23 degrees at concord. and with clear skies, that will bring it will numbers down as well. we're looking at readings just above freezing around oakland and livermore and concord right now. santa rosa dipped below freezing though at 30 degrees as we look live to the bay bridge from the roof cam. wind speeds too. ic cause me they were imto -- out of the northwest at about 15 to 20 miles an hour earlier and they are now beginning to relax and that's going to let temperatures go down more as you get windier conditions and the numbers don't get quite as cool. but now the wind are down under 5 miles an hour for the most part. and temperatures tonight by 8:00 we're already down into the mid 40s. and for tomorrow, we'll see them recover to about the near 50-degree range along the coast. but still around the bay and inland we're from 10 to 15 degrees below average. we'll see highs only in the mid 40s tomorrow. so it's happening is that low that was over california is now moving int

of the rainfall totals over the last 24 hours. .47 in napa. .4 in santa rosa. almost .3 for oakland, san francisco picking up almost .4. san jose picking up .13. we have seen snowfall in areas right around the santa cruz mountains, right over the summit, mount st. helena has reported a little snow. northern areas of napa county reported some snow yesterday. a few sprinkles that may or may not be hitting the ground at this point. it's sort of fascinating when we get that snow in our local hills. i'm seeing a little here remaining. that moisture over mount diablo. the altamont pass area stretching across 580. this is just the very tail end. we're going to see this actually continue to move to the south. if you are going to tahoe this weekend, still snow with an advisory over tahoe until 10:00 a.m. for the west slope droiring up to tahoe it's until 4:00 p.m. today. we have snow levels to pollock pines and in and around areas from truckee into blue canyon. snow level still fairly low, 3500 feet-4500 feet out there this morning. the winds are picking up. 8 miles per hour in nap awrks 9 in fairfield, 6

. tonight we'll get down to 22 in santa rosa. 26 degrees at livermore. 27 in san jose. right now, the numbers are below freezing in santa rosa a already at 28 degrees. livermore has 35 and oakland is at 36 chilly degrees. wind speeds are calm and that's not helping keeping temperatures up. calm winds, it will get colder and we have the strongest winds, about 5 miles an hour. those winds will pick up by monday. but in the meantime, we have clear skies and an icy night tonight and out the door tomorrow morning, bundle up. temperatures will be in the near 40-degree range at 8:00 in the morning. and by the afternoon, we recover nicely to the near 50- degree range around the coast. got plenty of sun for the bay and inland where the numbers tomorrow will be in the mid 40s. this is all, by the way, about 15 degrees below average highs for this time of the year and the 49ers are going to be playing the seahawks tomorrow, 1:25 p.m. game time temperature of 48 degrees. i know by california standards, it's cold. colorado, they laugh at us. low pressure is over the four corners region right

rosa and to have a pretty cool picture here. not just rain, but the snow. and they sent us this event. and lake county, northern counties got some snow for them before the wetter air moved in. concordat 37 -- concord at 37. what's going on? we got the cold air as they are not leaving, just got scoured out for a few hours. they're hopping on the jet stream, moving from the north to the south and they will scoot by us as they will be done by 1:00 to 2:00 in the morning and as that passes on by, they will need to drag down even more cold air and for some of you, colder than the past couple of days for them and the upper 40s with the other freeze is coming up for them and the other freeze warning is for tomorrow night. now, with all the water on the ground and the freeze warning that is coming up, both tomorrow night and sunday night and that we will likely see the widespread ice for them early sunday if you are traveling at all on sunday morning to be advised that they will have a lot of black ice and that it will be chilly and gone before the sunrise tomorrow. >> the highs tomorrow, upp

pictures of the nasty weather on their social media sites and sending them to us here at cnn. rosa florez has been collecting all of them. what are you seeing? >> you said it well, people are staying inside, so a lot of time snapping photos and submitting them to social media. but it is treacherous out there, one i-reporter submitted this photograph, overturned vehicles like this one in illinois have been a common occurrence in the states getting pounded by ice and snow. i-reporter jason aselen snapped this picture in michigan and also took some video that helps tell the story for him. he says that they're worried, they've been dealing with this for days. normally they see heavy snow first before the temperatures actually drop very low, which means water pipes have snow insulation he called it, but this time they saw about 6 inches of snow, then it rained which created a layer of ice and quite the mess he says. they're afraid that those water pipes will burst, and, of course, he said kids are forced to stay inside. no playing outside for those kiddos. >>> in areas of texas the chilling te

temperatures from our sutro camera. the coolest numbers up in the north bay. we had a little fog in santa rosa. 33 now. 39 in napa with northwesterly winds behind the system. it's just 40 in concord. so the 24 hour temperature change for this morning, a break from the freezing cold. so no 20s to speak of. considerably milder than where we have been. but the freeze warning in effect tonight and for the next two nights. so the cold front pushed on through. very little moisture left in its wake. but as we take you through the next couple of hours, a little green here representing the possibility of some light showers throughout the next few hours. that's 8:00. by 10:00 notice the peninsula and the santa cruz mountains could see some light shower activity. but all in all shaping up to be a sunny and chilly day. so the winter storm warning through 10:00 for south lake huh toe. the west slopes 8 to 12 inches with one to two feet above 7,000 feet. we are looking at about a foot at lake level. gusty winds and a heard time heading to the mountains throughout the day today. a look at the so-called high

going to be chilly with 36 in santa rosa. napa also at 37. walnut creek at 42. again, some of the coldest air arriving as we head throughout wednesday morning. the other thing we're going to have to deal with here is that wind. beginning to ramp up tonight at the coastline. as we head throughout tuesday in the north bay, the peninsula, also for parts of the south bay, we could see wind gusts anywhere from 15 to 30 miles per hour. not only cool, but blustery across the bay. here's what you can expect. the worst of the chill to arrive as we head throughout wednesday. also thursday morning. and you can see it's going to be for the north bay and also the east bay where temperatures will likely range 25 to 32 degrees. remember to dress in layers. seems like common sense. just a couple of layers when you're starting off with temperatures in the 30s can make a huge difference for us. we'll get some more on the sierra winter weather advisory coming up. i want to get a look at our microclimate forecast. what you're going to find across the bay is tomorrow, again, it's going to be co
